SAFELIFTER/ Lifting Device

A lifting device is disclosed, for coupling to a submersible pump, preferably one that is located in a sewage pumping station, below ground level submerged and/or not visible from ground level. The lifting device comprises a first guiding member for guiding the lifting device to the load, wherein the first guiding member comprises a releasable attachment means, preferably an openable shackle, for releasably coupling to a guiding cable connected to a lifting member on the load. The lifting device also comprises an attachment member to affix itself to an overhead lifting system, and a coupling member, preferably a hook, which may couple to the lifting member on the load. The lifting device may have a bell-shaped body with a second guiding member, comprising a guiding surface, to guide the hook onto the lifting member.
