Dietary Intake of Individuals with Diabetes

الكويت تواجه وباء السكري الذي يؤثر على كل من الأطفال والبالغين. هناك معدل إصابة مرتفع بالسكري من النوع الأول لدى الأطفال، وزيادة في انتشار السكري من النوع الثاني بين البالغين. إلى جانب هذه المعدلات العالية للسكري، هناك أيضًا انتشار كبير للسمنة وزيادة الوزن بين الأفراد الكويتيين المصابين بهذا المرض. يشكل هذا التعايش تحديات فريدة في إدارة مرض السكري والصحة العامة. تهدف الدراسة المقترحة إلى تقييم المدخول الغذائي للأطفال والبالغين المصابين بالسكري في الكويت. سنستخدم بيانات الاسترجاع الغذائي لمدة 24 ساعة لتحليل مدخولهم الغذائي بشكل استعادي، ومقارنته مع المعايير الغذائية الموصى بها، وتحديد أي نقص أو فائض غذائي. وفقًا لأفضل معرفتنا، ستكون هذه أول دراسة لتقييم المدخول الغذائي للأطفال والبالغين الكويتيين المصابين بالسكري. من المتوقع أن تسهم النتائج في تطوير تدخلات مستهدفة ومصممة ثقافيًا تهدف إلى تحسين الصحة العامة ورفاهية الأفراد الكويتيين المصابين بالسكري.

Kuwait is facing a diabetes epidemic affecting both its pediatric and adult populations. There is a high incidence rate of type 1 diabetes in children and an increasing prevalence of type 2 diabetes among adults. Alongside these high diabetes rates, there is also a significant prevalence of overweight and obesity in Kuwaiti individuals with this condition. This coexistence presents unique challenges in diabetes management and overall health. The proposed study aims to assess the dietary intake of both children and adults with diabetes in Kuwait. We will use 24-hour dietary recall data to retrospectively analyze their dietary intake, compare it with recommended nutritional standards, and identify any nutritional deficiencies or excesses. To the best of our knowledge, this will be the first study to evaluate the dietary intake of Kuwaiti children and adults with diabetes. The findings are expected to contribute to the development of targeted, culturally tailored interventions aiming to improve the overall health and wellbeing of Kuwaiti individuals with diabetes.
