An Exploratory Study of Hematological Cancer Patients’ Health Information Needs in Kuwait

لا توجد بيانات عن احتياجات مرضى سرطان الدم في الكويت للمعلومات الصحية. ولكن تلبية تلك الاحتياجات من المعلومات الصحية قد تؤدي إلى تحسين تجربة المريض في مركزنا، وزيادة الثقة في الرعاية الصحية، واحتمال تحسين نتائج المرضى الصحية. سيتم إجراء دراسة استكشافية عن طريق عمل مقابلات شبه منظمة لكل من المرضى والأطباء أو مقدمي الرعاية الصحية في قسم أمراض الدم الخبيثة في مركز الكويت لمكافحة السرطان. سيتم نسخ تسجيلات المقابلة وترجمتها وتحليلها من قبل محققين باستخدام التحليل الموضوعي النوعي. سيتم استخدام نتائج هذا المشروع لتصميم المبادرات والبرامج في مركزنا لتلبية احتياجات المرضى.

No data exists on the health information needs of hematological cancer patients in Kuwait. Meeting those health information needs may improve the patient experience, trust in the healthcare environment, and potentially patient outcome. A qualitative exploratory analysis utilizing semi-structured interviews of both patients, physicians and other health providers at the malignant hematology department of the Kuwait Cancer Control Centre will be undertaken. Interview recordings will be transcribed, translated, and analyzed by two investigators using qualitative thematic analysis. Results of this project will be used to design initiatives and programs at our centre to meet identified needs.
