Abstract English

Difficulties in rearing early stage larvae of hamoor have become the major bottleneck hindering the development of hamoor culture. Hence, improving larval survival and growth can greatly enhance hamoor fry production as an essential step towards establishing commercial hamoor aquaculture industry. Dietary taurine supplementation has been reported to significantly enhance the survival, growth and development of fish larvae. The aim of the proposed project is to evaluate the effect of dietary taurine enrichment on the survival, growth, and immune response of hamoor larvae. The objectives of this study are to 1) optimize rotifers enrichment with dietary taurine, 2) investigate the effects of feeding hamoor larvae with taurine-enriched rotifers on larval survival and growth, and 3) study the immune response during the early larval development and fish frys.
