Developing Teaching Materials for Management Development Programs at Kuwait University - Phase 3

Case Research and Teaching Unit (CRTU) of College of Business Administration, Kuwait University, had undertaken a project for developing teaching materials for management development programs. As Kuwait business environment developments are continuously creating new types of business opportunities and challenges, which need to be addressed by managers, business case studies in the management education development programs in Kuwait is considered to be effective and purposeful. The first phase of this case research program was implemented during 2005 - 2007. Under this phase, 23 Kuwait business case studies and four industry profile research studies were completed and the final report was submitted to KFAS. With tremendous support from KFAS, we had published a book entitled, “Kuwait Business Case Studies” as part of the first phase in 2009. Subsequent to the first phase, the second phase was sponsored in 2009. In this phase, 20 Kuwait business case studies and one industry note was completed. Progress Reports were sent to KFAS documenting the various stages of the case studies and/or industry notes which were studied. As part of the second phase, the second volume of the Kuwait Business Case Studies book was published, entitled, “Kuwait Business Case Studies - Volume II” in 2011. The third phase will involve twenty faculty members and a number of MBA students at the College of Business Administration over a two-year period (2012-2013 and 2013-2014). In the third phase, ten case studies will be completed at the end of the first year and another ten case studies at the end of second year. Policies, procedures and quality control measures which were formulated and successfully implemented will be followed in the third phase so as to ensure the quality of these case studies and their dissemination for use in management education programs, both in Kuwait and in the GCC region.
