A Review of the Kuwaiti Labour 1984-1994 with Special Reference to Changes Arising from the Iraqi Invasion of 1990-1991

كان الهدف من الدراسة هو تحليل الأوضاع الاقتصادية والبيئية التي يعمل في ظلها الكويتيون في ضوء السياسات والنظريات الاقتصادية التي يمكن ان يتعامل معها مجتمع كالمجتمع الكويتي عميزاته الخاصة. وبحثت الدراسة في العوامل والظروف البيئية التي جعلت دولة الكويت ما بين قليل من الدول التي تشكل قواها العاملة جزءا صغيرا من جملة القوى العاملة، مع التركيز على ما أحدثه الغزو العراقي من تحول هام في القضايا الاقتصادية التي أصبحت القوى العاملة الوطنية حجر الزاوية فيها. وقد توصلت الدراسة الى إنشاء قاعدة معلومات حديثة خاصة بالمنظور الاقتصادي للقوى العاملة الكويتية والغير كويتية مع رصد بعض المؤشرات الدالة على طبيعة العمالة المهاجرة

Survey and analysis of Kuwaiti labour force was conducted and researchers found clear trends in the available databases arising from survey programs in 1988 and 1994/95, thus providing the basis for a comparative study on the characteristics of the labour force for both the periods. The outcome of the investigation is discussed in the final project report. The report focuses on Kuwaiti manpower distribution during the pre- and post-invasion and the assessment of the Kuwaiti labour force under occupation. It also draws attention to the impact of the Iraqi invasion on the Kuwaiti economy and society and concludes with future outlook on the economic prospects of Kuwait
