Performance of Wall Construction in Kuwait

تقترح الدراسة اجراء برنامج بحثى لتقييم الاداء الانشائي والحراري للجدران تحت الظروف المناخية المحلية، سيتضمن البحث دراسة اداء الجدران المبنيه من الطابوق العازل الطابوق الخرساني الطوب الطيني لغرض التوصل الى الاساليب العلمية والتفاصيل الانشائية الملائمة لتحسين كفاءة الجدران تم
اقتراح ثلاثة نشاطات لتحقيق اهداف المشروع وهي كما يلي : (1) برنامج للفحوصات المختبرية لجميع مواد البناء المستعمله في الجدران.
مسح ميداني للجدران في مشروع القرين الاسكاني. (?)
(?) برنامج للفحوصات لنماذج من الجدران بالحجم الطبيعي ولوحدات بنائيه
تبني لهذا الغرض.
ان النشاطات المقترحة تهدف إلى تحسين اداء الجدران المبنيه من الطابوق العازل والطابوق الخرساني والطوب الطيني وتحديد اسباب التشققات التي تحصل في الجدران لغرض التوصل الى الاساليب المناسبة لمنع ظاهرة التشققات.

The study proposes conducting a research program to evaluate the behavior and thermal performance of the common wall constructions in buildings used in Kuwait under local environmental conditions. The non- performance problems in wall constructions built from Azel blocks, con- crete blocks and clay bricks will be assessed. Practical measures and construction details for prevention of cracks in wall constructions are to be developed. Three types of activities are proposed to achieve the objectives of the project. These are:
1. Experimental testing program of the building materials used in wall construction.
2. Field survey of wall constructions in the Al-Qurain Government Housing Project.
3. Full scale testing program for walls and building units.
The proposed activities will lead to the improvement of the per- formance of Azel block, concrete blocks and clay brick wall construc- tions used in Kuwait and identification of the causes of non-performance in walls to develop measures to prevent these cracks.
