Selection of an Effective Sludge Dewatering System for Kuwait

Project: General ResearchGeneral Research 1994

Project Details

Abstract English

Kuwait`s sewage-sludge production increase yearly c nsonant _/ with increase in population and water consumption . Present dewatering systems (mainly drying beds) are not adequate to cope with expansion in t-he sewage-treatment plants . Increasing the capacity of existing plants would require drying beds, and could exacerkate existing odor problems .
Several dewatering systems , centrifu e and belt filter -V-Eess-) will be tested and compared, ost feasible and efféctive under local conditions will be se ected. Appropriate polymer doses for thickening the sludge will also be determined
